» Let's Count Things!

When we count, we say one number for each thing. Point and count slowly:

  • The last number is 5 – so there are 5 elephants!

» Jump Counting (Skip Counting)

Let's count like a frog – jump, jump, jump!

  • By 2s: 2,4,6,8,10...
  • By 5s: 5,10,15,20...
  • By 10s: 10,20,30,40...

🎯 Class 1 – Remember
  • Count slowly – one number for each thing
  • Numbers 21 to 99 have a hyphen: twenty-one
  • 40 is Forty (not Fourty)
  • Before = minus 1, After = plus 1
⭐ CLASS 2 – NUMBERS 101 TO 1000 ⭐

» Three-Digit Numbers

When we have three digits, they have special names:

  • Hundreds – the first digit
  • Tens – the middle digit
  • Ones – the last digit

Example: 347 = 3 hundreds, 4 tens, 7 ones

In words: Three hundred and forty-seven

Write in words:

» When There's a Zero

If the tens or ones digit is 0, we skip it:

  • 305 = Three hundred and five (skip the tens)
  • 420 = Four hundred and twenty (skip the ones)
  • 600 = Six hundred (skip both)

🎯 Class 2 – Remember
  • Three-digit numbers: hundreds, tens, ones
  • Always use "and" after hundreds: 347 = Three hundred and forty-seven
  • If tens or ones is 0, skip it
  • 1000 = One thousand (no "and")
