Content updated on 20 April 2026

Learn how to point out specific things and show who owns what using demonstratives (this, that, these, those) and possessive determiners (my, your, his, her, etc.). This lesson is designed for Class 6–7 students to build precision in English.

✅ Recommended for: Class 6-7 (Core) | CBSE & UP Board

Imagine you're in a shop. You want to say, "I like this shirt," or maybe, "I want that one." You're also thinking, "My choice is final." The words in bold—this, that, my—are determiners. They help you point to things (demonstratives) and show ownership (possessives). Let's explore how they work.

Determiners (เคจिเคฐ्เคงाเคฐเค•): Words placed before a noun to tell us which one or how many.

Demonstratives: this, that, these, those. Possessives: my, your, his, her, its, our, their.

What are Demonstratives?

Demonstratives "demonstrate" or point out specific nouns. They tell us which one we are talking about and whether it is near or far.
